Cottage was an absolute delight to stay in.","body":"We found the position of Cedar to be really good because you had the views of the mountains in the glen, but also the pond. We have never stayed in a self catering property that was this clean upon arrival. The bed was comfy and so was the sofa. We felt we had a good level of privacy too, despite being amongst seven other cottages. Noise was not an issue. In fact, the only noise you would hear would be the sound of a Curlew or an Oystercatcher her or an Owl. We saw many red squirrels. In fact, the most red squirrels we have ever seen. The enclosed paddock behind 3 of the lodges was an absolutely awesome addition when you have a dog. This allowed for our dog to play safely with other dogs, socialise with the dogs, at the same time whilst we relaxed. But you do also have your own section of garden that is fully enclosed and private. We felt the lodge was mostly well equipped in the kitchen. We would suggest adding a mixing bowl for those that want to bake. And a yorkshire pudding tray of course. They do provide lovely scottish made toiletries and upon arrival, you receive a really lovely welcome pack. The walk down to the falls is lovely. There is a lot to do locally but bear in mind, despite being on the A9 road, you are isolated to some degree. We arranged for a Tesco delivery on the following day and we stocked up on fuel. The owners are really friendly here and helpful and always available on hand. Places we would suggest visiting are Pattack Falls, Cairn Gorm, Green loch, Creag Meagaidh, Aberfeldy, Blair Atholl etc. Aviemore is very dog friendly. We would visit again for sure. And we would actually choose to stay in Cedar again. Fabulous views from every room towards the Cairngorm Mountains. \r\n\r\nThe cottage had a very homely feel, really loved the Aga in the kitchen and the open fireplace in the lounge made the evenings very relaxing. It was great to have Sky tv in all the main rooms and the wi-fi worked very well. We didn't need a thing in terms of cooking equipment, bedding or towels. \r\n\r\nHouse is very close to Loch Insh where we enjoyed all the water sports on offer and we spent a fascinating day at the Highland Folk Museum just up the road past Kingussie.\r\n\r\nAviemore is a great little town with a good range of shops, restaurants and supermarkets. We enjoyed a ride on the Strathspey steam train which departs from Aviemore Station thrice daily for a return trip to Broomhill. The farm shop at Rothiemurchus was also outstanding and we hired bikes for a wander up the mountains nearby.\r\n\r\nThoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cottage is very spacious with lots of outdoor space but would benefit from an outdoor table and chairs in the summer months. Views are excellent from the cottage but unfortunately the land in front of the cottage is currently being developed for housing and there was a substantial amount of noise from the diggers which woke us up early some mornings. Hopefully this all be sorted soon. Make sure you ask for key collection details at least 48 hours in advance as we struggled to get them in time for our visit. The bird table had collapsed but I out good out for the birds and plenty came which was an additional blessing.The bed was comfortable, the kitchen had a good range of crockery and utensils and the bungalow is cosy and well insulated once it has warmed up. The heating takes a bit of getting used to and the hot water situation was neither fully explained nor was it very good; if there had been a family of six, would there be enough hot water for everyone to shower, and some people might want a bath especially as it was hard to shower properly without messing up the floor; but it really wasn't that hot even if you planned things a couple of hours in advance. Travelled in all directions and took in the amazing scenery around this area. Christine is an amazing host, even greeted us with two glasses of whisky. She is very friendly and cannot do enough for you. Looks out onto the glen where cows and sheep wander and trees outside cottage where we watched the woodpeckers appear regularly a well as many other birds. Only 12 miles from Drumnadrochit where you can eat in Fiddlers Restaurant and taste some of their amazing malt whiskies. An amazing village just to have a wander in. Nearby is Beauly and a wee bit further on Dingwall. We even drove to Ullapool and the scenery was amazing.
