Guests say

Kites Holt is a beautifully presented cottage, praised for its cosy atmosphere, quality furnishings, and thoughtful touches by hosts Craig and Amanda. Guests appreciate the welcome hamper, comfortable bedding, and the property's cleanliness. The village's tranquillity and the cottage's character add to the charm, although some guests mention minor issues with facilities and the steep stairs.

The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews noting it as spotless and well-maintained. The attention to detail in presentation suggests a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.

The location is highly regarded for its peaceful village setting and proximity to country walks and coastal resorts. The rural charm and quiet environment are consistently appreciated, although the remote nature means a drive to local attractions.

Comfort is frequently highlighted, with guests finding the cottage cosy and the beds super comfy. The underfloor heating and plush bathrobes are mentioned as additional comforts that enhance the stay.

While the cottage's facilities are generally praised, especially the modern touches, some guests point out issues such as an inadequate hot water supply and a log fire that smokes. However, these are seen as minor compared to the overall high standard of the facilities.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in the welcome hamper and local recommendations provided, creating a warm and personalised experience. While gifts are cherished by guests, it's noted that such personal touches, though delightful, may vary and are not guaranteed.

About this property

Drenched in history and charm, Kites Holt (part of Kites Cottage) is a 500 year old Grade II listed Medieval Hall House sitting within the centre of the beautiful village of Stockland. A stunning, one bedroomed, beamed thatched cottage with the benefit of its own private entrance into the original hall of the cottage, dating back to circa 15th century.

Kites Holt boasts space and light whilst maintaining a wealth of its original character along with some quirky features, offering guests originality with a high standard of luxury and comfort included. This archetypal thatched cottage in an unspoilt village setting is the perfect destination for a comfortable country break. Kites Holt offers you the best of both the traditional and the contemporary, with original flooring, exposed beams and a feature open fireplace, as well as modern comforts such as underfloor heating in the bathroom and a luxurious super-king size bed with a Devon wool duvet, the bed can be separated to twin singles if required. The welcoming bedroom also features more exposed beams and a "Narnia" style walk in wardrobe, along with triple aspect picture windows. The beautiful bathroom is located on the ground floor and has a double wet room style walk-in shower and a luxurious roll-top slipper bath.

Outside, guests can enjoy the private, fully enclosed south west facing courtyard garden, with garden furniture, fragrant plants and lovely views of the village church and the countryside beyond.

Stockland is a pretty, small village nestled within the Blackdown Hills (designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1991). You’ll find plenty of country walks through the woodland and countryside right from your doorstep. The village boasts a welcoming pub, the Kings Arms, with a great selection of wines and local ales. If you are looking to eat, then it is advisable to book as it is very popular.

Lovely property. Great location and perfectly arranged for 2 guests. The owners who are the adjoining neighbour could not have been more accommodating.

A very cosy and attractive cottage, particularly good for dark evenings with the open fire. Loved the view from the kitchen table and the welcome hamper was excellent.
